Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant in Daegu – Lai Chen

Experience the taste of Vietnam! If you’re craving rice noodles, look no further than the authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Daegu, Lai Chen Restaurant. Located right in the heart of Daegu, about 20 minutes from Camp Walker, NGO Chau founded Lai Chen Restaurant in 2019.

At Yakjeon Alley, you can find Lai Chen with Vietnam’s flag flying proudly above the storefront, serving as a distinctive marker helping patrons locate their restaurant. The restaurant focuses on bringing delicious plates with exquisite flavors all the way from Vietnam. Those on social media in the Daegu area claim Lai Chen has the best rice noodles that take them back to their Vietnam travels.

A Warm Welcome and Vietnamese Ambiance

When you step into Lai Chen, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The owner decorated the space with nón lá (Vietnamese hats), framed art, and details that make you feel like you’ve stepped into another country.

Their convenient ordering system is right on the table, allowing you to place orders from your seat. The screen can be translated into various languages for the benefit of international guests.

Lai Chen is open 7 days a week from 11:00 to 21:30 without breaks, so you can visit anytime during operating hours. Amenities include Wi-Fi, group booking, takeout, delivery, and reservations.

Menu Highlights: From Rice Noodles to Bánh Xèo

The menu offers delicious options for families of two, four, or solo diners. I ordered the set for two and fed my family of four—plenty of food to leave our bellies and hearts full. The set came with rice noodles, bún chả, and bánh xèo.

  • My youngest devoured the rice noodles.

  • My oldest enjoyed the shrimp-filled persao with fried eggs and Vietnamese fried noodles.

  • My husband loved the bún chả.

  • I couldn’t get enough of the bánh xèo, a Vietnamese-style buchimgae made with vegetables, meat, and shrimp in rice flour dough—perfect with their dry rice paper.

Every plate offered something different, making it a perfect family meal to share.
